The report\u2019s release comes as negotiators gather in Paris later this month for the second round of talks on the UN\u2019s Global Plastics Treaty which aims, by 2024, to reach an agreement on ending plastic pollution.<\/p>\n<p>It saw the main obstacle to success as coming from within the plastics industry, \u201cwhich continues to put forward plastic recycling and recycled content as central solutions to the plastic pollution crisis. It said most plastics collected for recycling were never recycled, and when they were their toxic chemical contents made them unfit for food-grade and other consumer uses.
