This is the first joint Team Europe mission of its kind. The objective of the visit is to deepen the EU&#8217;s partnership with the Southern African country in key sectors under Global Gateway, the EU&#8217;s investment strategy for delivering sustainable connections and contributing to inclusive growth and prosperity in partner countries.<\/p>\n<p>In Lusaka, Commissioner Urpilainen will meet President Hakainde Hichilema and several ministers. In an increasingly complex geopolitical context, Zambia is a close ally to the EU at regional, continental, and multilateral levels. While in Lusaka, Commissioner Urpilainen is expected to announce the resumption of budget support to Zambia and new Global Gateway programmes in the sectors of education, health and green energy, as well as support to food security.
