The only company to have a small modular nuclear power plant approved in the US \u2013 cited by the Australian opposition as evidence of a \u201cburgeoning\u201d global nuclear industry \u2013 has cancelled its first project due to rising costs.<\/p>\n<p>NuScale Power announced on Wednesday that it had dropped plans to build a long-promised \u201ccarbon free power project\u201d in Idaho. It blamed the decision on a lack of subscribers for the plant\u2019s electricity.
