It found 53 per cent of respondents were worried about the risk of accidentally trumpeting inaccurate claims about their company&#8217;s climate and environmental credentials. The findings come amid mounting consumer and regulatory pressure on corporate green claims, with watchdogs in the UK and elsewhere increasingly clamping down on &#8216;greenwashing&#8217; in advertising.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, companies are facing increasingly stringent requirements worldwide to disclose more granular details on their climate strategies, environmental impacts, and Scope 3 value chain emissions &#8211; an issue which was also highlighted as a concern by survey respondents.<\/p>\n<p>The survey findings reveal just 44 per cent of respondents felt &#8216;very confident&#8217; they could accurately report on their firms&#8217; Scope 3 emissions, and that another 38 per cent felt &#8216;somewhat confident&#8217;. The remaining 19 per cent said they were not confident they could report on their Scope 3 emissions accurately. Yet at the same time, a separate question in the survey saw more than 60 per cent of respondents state that reporting on Scope 3 emissions &#8216;feels like a best-guess measurement&#8217;.
