Authored by experts at the London School of Economics and Political Science and the University of Cambridge, the report &#8211; titled Boosting growth and productivity in the United Kingdom through investments in the sustainable economy &#8211; argues that increased public investment and a &#8220;coherent set of public policies&#8221; could drive innovation and boost private investment in tackling climate change, biodiversity loss and environmental degradation. As such, the government could ultimately unlock public and private investment equivalent to at least three per cent of GDP &#8211; or \u00a377bn a year.<\/p>\n<p>Calls for increased public spending on green infrastructure, such as Labour&#8217;s proposed \u00a328bn a year Green Prosperity Plan, have prompted accusations from the government that borrowing to invest in low carbon projects could lead to higher taxes and inflation.
