Led by former Amazon Web Services energy infrastructure expert Laurie Fitzmaurice, the new business will be operationally separate within the Drax Group and headquartered in Houston in the United States.<\/p>\n<p>Announcing the move late last week, Drax said it intends to formally launch the new entity in the US later this year and support Fitzmaurice with a management team capable of taking ownership of the Group&#8217;s strategy for BECCS in the US and internationally as set by Drax&#8217;s board.The new firm will have day-to-day responsibility for project execution, including development, delivery, marketing, and sales of carbon removal credits, as well as deployment of the Group&#8217;s multi-billion-dollar global BECCS capex programme.<\/p>\n<p>Fitzmaurice will also be tasked with collaborating with partners from the scientific, academic, consulting, investment, and construction communities to accelerate the deployment of carbon dioxide removals technology.
