It said unscrupulous operators had seen prices paid in India fall dramatically as transport costs increased due to attacks by Yemen\u2019s Houthi militia on Red Sea shipping, meaning ships had to take the long and costly alternative route around the Cape of Good Hope.<\/p>\n<p>The TRA said 75% of UK waste tyres went to India via the Red Sea route in normal times. Unscrupulous tyre collectors deprived of the India route will not then engage with regulated TRA members and prefer to fly-tip or burn tyres, the TRA explained.
