The economic ramifications, according to the report, could see the direct global cost of waste management, currently estimated at USD 252 billion in 2020, escalate to USD 640.3 billion by 2050 if current practices persist.<\/p>\n<p>A shift towards a circular economy, emphasising waste avoidance and sustainable business practices, is highlighted as a potential path to not only mitigate costs but also achieve a net gain of USD 108.5 billion annually.
