As part of the research mandate, the outcomes of the team\u2019s work will be shared with other communities in the region.<\/p>\n<p>Arctic-specific research on wind turbines could greatly inform remote Northern communities\u2019 energy strategies. As in other places across the world\u2019s Arctic regions, all 25 generating stations that power Nunavut communities rely on imported diesel fuel, and 55 million litres of diesel were purchased for those stations in 2018 alone. At the same time, Cambridge Bay has access to a lot of wind energy if it can harness it.
