In a little-noticed passage in its sustainability report the oil company said: \u201cWe have concluded that the scale of our ambition\u2026is unfeasible due to lack of available plastic waste feedstock, slow technology development and regulatory uncertainty.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe continue to work with partners across the plastic waste value chain, such as the waste management industry and pyrolysis oil producers, to help develop a circular value chain globally.\u201d Although Shell said it saw customer demand for circular chemicals, \u201cthe pace of growth globally is less than expected\u201d, leading it to drop the million tonnes commitment.
