The consultation will explore how nature can be integrated into climate transition planning as part of the existing GFANZ Net-Zero Transition Plan Framework.<\/p>\n<p>With more than 20% of global emissions coming from agriculture, forestry, and land use, the consultation proposes guidance on nature actions that can contribute to decarbonisation. It will explore how nature-related emissions can be reduced in alignment with the Paris Agreement, how nature can be used for climate mitigation, and how both factors should be included as part of financial approaches and planning.<\/p>\n<p>The consultation on the \u2018Nature in Net-Zero Transition Plans\u2019 paper is open until 27 January 2025. \u201cThe guidance provided in the consultation is a vital roadmap for financial institutions to incorporate nature considerations into their transition plans and help them meet their net-zero goals while supporting the development of innovative nature-based solutions,\u201d GFANZ\u2019s vice chair Mary Schapiro said. \u201cNature risk is financial risk, and this consultation helps underscore the critical role nature plays in ensuring the journey to net zero is efficient and comprehensive.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>GFANZ members have developed voluntary guidance to support all financial institutions in their net-zero transition planning. The Financial Institution Net-zero Transition Plan focused on four key aspects to drive net-zero actions seven sector-specific alliances including asset managers and owners, bankers, insurers, consultants, financial service providers, and consultants.<\/p>\n<p>The framework focuses on enabling four aspects of transition finance, including scaling investment in climate solutions, aligning business models with a science-based pathway to net-zero, supporting companies with \u201ccredible\u201d transition plans or \u201cwho are in the process\u201d of aligning with a science-based target.
