One project is focused on purchasing carbon credits through the GreenTrees platform in the Lower Mississippi Alluvial Valley (USA). The project aims to reforest more than 400,000 hectares (one million acres) in the region. Additionally, funding will support biochar carbon removal, which involves turning waste biomass into biochar, a process which stabilises carbon and stores it long-term.<\/p>\n<p>Other projects are focused on spreading rock powder over agricultural fields in a process known as rock weathering.<br \/>\nThe LEGO Group claims the projects will issue credits up to 2026 and will help the business in developing its understanding of new and emerging climate mitigation and carbon removal projects beyond its value chain. The LEGO Group set out its target to reach net-zero emissions back in 2023. Set for 2050, the target is backed by spending plans of more than $1.4bn up to the end of 2025. The investment plan will involve creating carbon-neutral buildings and sites, including two factories designed for carbon-neutral operation, and seeking Gold LEED certification as a standard for new structures.<\/p>\n<p>Supply chain operations contribute to 98% of LEGO\u2019s GHG emissions.
