The traditional fashion cycle of producing four seasonal lines per year has evolved into a relentless weekly release of fast fashion collections, flooding the market with low-quality garments made from fossil-fuel-based synthetic fibers. This unsustainable trend results in approximately 100 billion new clothing items annually, contributing to a waste crisis, particularly in the Global South.<\/p>\n<p>Countries like Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, and Tanzania receive these \u2018second-hand\u2019 clothing exports, with a significant portion ending up in landfills or incinerated every second, causing environmental damage. In Africa alone, nearly six billion tons of fashion waste arrive each year, with 23 per cent being immediately discarded. Faro\u2019s innovative solution is an e-commerce platform that connects European brands with excess inventory to South African consumers. By offering high-quality, unsold European stock at significantly reduced prices, Faro aims to prevent this surplus apparel from becoming waste and instead gives it a \u2018second\u2019 life in the retail cycle.<\/p>\n<p>Faro\u2019s commitment to sustainability extends beyond preventing waste; for every kilogram of high-quality clothing they sell, their textile recycling initiative, Faro Impact, will recycle an equivalent kilogram of textile waste.
