Following the adoption of the EU&#8217;s negotiating mandate to COP28 in the Environment Council on 16 October, Commissioner Hoekstra will engage with Brazil on the need for high ambition at COP28, as well as looking towards Brazil&#8217;s upcoming G20 Presidency.<\/p>\n<p>On 18 October, in Brasilia, the Commissioner will meet with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mauro Vieira; Minister of Environment and Climate Change, Marina Silva; Minister of Mines and Energy, Alexandre Silveira; and Minister of Finance, Fernando Haddad; members of the Committee for Environment and Sustainable Development from the House of Representatives; and later, he will also exchange with Brazilian civil society organisations.<\/p>\n<p>On 19 October, the Commissioner will be in S\u00e3o Paulo to meet with the Governor of the State of Amazonas, Wilson Lima, and to engage with local industry on the green transition. In the morning, Commissioner Hoekstra will participate in a business roundtable on \u2018decarbonisation strategies and energy transition in the private sector&#8217; with the Industry Federation of S\u00e3o Paulo (FIESP) and discuss climate finance and investments in green transition with the consortium of European Chambers of Commerce \u2018EuroCamaras&#8217;.
