That is the conclusion from the latest ranking of the world&#8217;s top 100 most sustainable, publicly-traded corporates published today by Corporate Knights, which suggests the index&#8217;s 20-year trend of greener companies reaping greater business benefits remains intact.<\/p>\n<p>The latest edition marks the 20th annual league table released by the non-profit, which quantitively compares and ranks the world&#8217;s largest publicly traded companies by assessing the impact of a firm&#8217;s operations and core products and services on people and the planet. The analysis shows companies in the Global 100 invested over half &#8211; 55 per cent &#8211; of their capital expenditures, R&amp;D, and acquisitions in the green economy, compared to an average of 17 per cent among among listed corporates.<\/p>\n<p>The Global 100 index has also continually tracked higher total returns from companies on the list over its 20-year existence, amounting to overall average returns of 295 per cent between 2005 and 2023, Corporate Knights said.
