The trial, which is currently underway in the counties of West Midlands, East Midlands, and Yorkshire, UK, involves increasing the number of sheets per roll in select own-brand products, consequently shrinking the packaging size.<\/p>\n<p>If the initiative is implemented across all Aldi stores, it could reportedly result in the removal of more than 60t of plastic packaging annually. Additionally, the more compact packs would allow more products to be transported per truck, thus decreasing the number of lorry journeys needed.
