A recent EEA study showed that 4% to 9% of textiles introduced to the European market ended up being destroyed without ever having been used.<\/p>\n<p>The processing and destruction of returned or unsold textiles is responsible for the equivalent of 5.6 million tonnes of CO2 emissions. At the same time, with its circularity rate of 11.5% in 2022, Europe still uses more recycled materials than any other region in the world.
