There will also be a ban on shipments of all waste destined for disposal within the EU except if authorised under the prior written notification and consent procedure. This requires notifiers within the EU and exporters to third countries to receive written confirmation from the countries of dispatch, destination and transit prior to export. Internal EU shipments of waste for recovery operations that fall into the \u2018green-listed\u2019 category will continue to be allowed.<\/p>\n<p>Plastics campaigners hailed the new regulation as an important step in combatting plastics waste. Campaign groups Rethink Plastic Alliance and Break Free From Plastic said: \u201cThe EU\u2019s revised Waste Shipment Regulation now forms some of the most ambitious waste exporting rules in the world.
