The supermarket chain is working on a trial program that will see crownless pineapples in stores to reduce food waste. The crowns of pineapples are commonly thrown away by customers but in the new trial, they will be removed in the production process to be used for recycling.<\/p>\n<p>The recycled pineapple crowns will be used to make animal feed and the green leaves will go towards preparing next year\u2019s crop of pineapples.
