High Representative Josep Borrell delivered a speech on behalf the EU at the G20 Foreign Ministers&#8217; meeting. He also addressed the UN Security Council during its emergency meeting on Lebanon.<\/p>\n<p>High Representative Borrell and Commissioner Janez Lenar\u010di\u010d co-hosted two events on Sudan, calling for an immediate and sustainable ceasefire, a robust humanitarian response as well as the establishment of monitoring mechanisms urging respect of International Humanitarian Law. Commissioner Lenar\u010di\u010d co-chaired together with Belgium a High-level event on the importance of restoring International Humanitarian Law&#8217;s centrality and universality. Commissioner Wopke Hoekstra delivered a speech at the UN High-level plenary meeting on \u2018Addressing the existential threats posed by sea-level rise&#8217;. He also participated in a roundtable discussion hosted by Bloomberg on \u2018Europe&#8217;s Net Zero Strategy \u2013 Delivering on Climate Ambition and Enhancing Industrial Competitiveness,&#8217; and in a high-level panel on \u2018Global Solidarity Levies and Financing for Development.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>Today, High Representative\/Vice-President Borrell will participate in the informal Ministerial meeting on Venezuela, organised by the US. He will then co-chair an informal Ministerial meeting of EU and the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) Foreign Ministers. In the afternoon, the HR\/VP will participate in and co-host several meetings focusing on the situation in Gaza and the work towards the implementation of the Two-State solution. He will also participate in the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) Ministerial meeting and the Ministerial Meeting of the Ad Hoc Liaison Committee (AHLC).
