When asked in a recent survey about the impact of Donald Trump\u2019s US presidency on the economy, economic experts in Germany, as well as in Austria and Switzerland, were among the most negative &#8211; even more so than in Canada and the US itself.<\/p>\n<p>But German carmakers, whose exports account for around a fifth of Germany&#8217;s exports to the US, are talking up the positives in public statements. \u201cWe perceive ourselves to be part of US society,&#8221; VW Group CEO Oliver Blume told Bild am Sonntag.<\/p>\n<p>Blume said VW would continue to work with the next US administration \u201cin a tried and tested manner\u201d, specifically by investing more than \u20ac5 billion into its plant in Chattanooga, Tennessee and another \u20ac5 billion into a joint venture with EV manufacturer Rivian.
